Climate Research AI Solutions
As your weather science AI & HPC partner, Penguin Solutions designs and deploys infrastructure resources to handle mission-critical, real-time global environmental prediction workloads.
With new satellites, aircraft, airborne radiosondes, ships, ocean-based buoys—even citizen-scientist run monitoring stations—a huge increase in relevant data sets is more readily available than ever before.
In addition, researchers and scientists now also have a better understanding of fluid flow, physics, and chemistry changes. The result is higher fidelity algorithms and more accurate models. But, even that isn’t enough to ensure organizations achieve success without the compute power required to process the large quantity of data.
Advanced computing with a proven AI infrastructure can help deliver predictive analysis when time is critical in providing forecasts to airlines, governments, agricultural, and insurance companies among many others, and resultant data with computing delays may have catastrophic effects.
Computing a climate model requires expert preparation of a complex series of processing jobs with simulations running over varying lengths of time. The data then has to be accurately overlaid upon the three-dimensional topography of the Earth.
Global climate modeling and its interconnected data points from winds, temperatures, radiation, gas emission, cloud formation, land and sea-based ice, vegetation and many other elements result in an even greater level of complexity. In addition, your calculations often need to be compared against results from other groups, to understand why divergence occurred and whether modification is warranted.
Moreover, weather centers need all the redundancies of a large data center. Climate research alone would not require this level of redundancy, but would require more robust storage subsystem capabilities for longer term storage of multiyear simulations. Penguin Solutions designs its systems with this in mind.
